Mayo U12 girls stepped up thier preparations for the Inishowen tournament and the Gaynor cup at the end of next month with a friendly match against Sligo this morning at Solar 21 park. Mayo where very solid defensively for most of the game with both goalkeepers Rachel McNulty and Aoife Meaney rarely tested but they were assured when they were tested. Some stand out performers were Isobella Phillips at centre back, Mallaidh Lavelle and Emily Jennings in midfield Rebecca Moran Emma Cook and Amy Murphy starring up front. Mayo won out 4 - 1 with goals from Rebecca Moran and a hat trick from player of the match Amy Murphy her third was a brilliant finish into the top corner. Sligo got a late consolation goal. All 23 girls got a lot of valuable playing time as they continue thier journey in the Mayo ETP set up.
