Castlebar Celtic Under 18 make it a Hat-trick of Doubles

  • Jul 06,2008

Castlebar Celtic Under 18 team won the Quigley Cup for a third time in a row to make it three League and Cup doubles in succession. Celtic came in to the match on a high after winning the league two weeks ago against Charlestown. Their opponents in the Quigley Cup Final were a strong Kiltimagh / Knock United team.

Disaster struck for Kiltimagh / Knock in the second minute when a defender was adjudged to have handled inside the box. From the resultant penalty Nigel Naughton made no mistake despite a valiant effort by keeper Michael Slingerman.

Peter Drevins made it 2-0 to Celtic just before half time after good interlinking play with Danny Fallon.

Kiltimagh / Knock came into the game more in the second half and only some fine goalkeeping from Danny Kirby kept them scorless. With Kiltimah / Knock pushing men forward Celtic substitute Kieth Duffy took advantage of the space to score a fine individual goal and wrap up the scoring.
